Gallery Garden
Ceramic and plants, site specific installation for Ormston House. Limerick, Ireland. 2017.
This modular garden was designed specifically for Ormston House with a focus on reproducing, as much as is possible, an outdoor garden for users of the space to enjoy. The health benefits of gardening and spending time with nature have been repeatedly proven. A garden is a living system with its components — plants, soil, microorganisms — having to adapt to their environment.
Factors such as light intensity, temperature, humidity, and soil quality will affect how a plant will grow. The Ormston House gallery is a specific environment that will allow some plants to thrive and others not. The garden was modular in design to allow the users to interact and modify it according to the needs of this busy, dynamic space.
