Slip cast ceramic, installation for Sculpture in Context, Botanic Gardens, Dublin, Ireland. 2017.
This work was a series of outdoor works based on the platonic solids and sacred geometry found in nature. The work moved from the internal gallery space to various outdoor sites within the gardens. Although the work is primarily sculptural in its considerations of line, form, volume etc., it is situated outside to encourage viewers to move and think outside of the traditional white cube gallery space, and to see that the environmental context of a work is as important as the physicality of the work itself. Here, the juxtaposition of stark geometric forms within an organic environment is employed to enhance the attributes of both simultaneously.
The work was a continued exploration of the biophilia hypothesis and served as a catalyst for viewers to move outside and connect more directly with thee more than human, external world.
